DEPARTMENTS AND UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
ABOT has two academic departments – the Department of Nursing and Allied Health and the Department of Computing and Management Sciences.
DEPARTMENT OF NURSING AND ALLIED HEALTH
The Department of Nursing and Allied Health has three programmes:
- 3-year Diploma in General Nursing awarded by UDS, Ghana (starts in January, 2016)
- 3-year Midwifery awarded by UDS, Ghana (starts in September, 2016)
The offices of these programmes are located on the main Dominase campus in the Administration block.
Diploma in General Nursing
Goals of the Programme
This three year programme provides a sound base in the science of nursing and healthcare given. It is designed for inculcating in students the concept of professional practice, innovation and caring. It is also intended to make the student aware of technological trends and emerging opportunities; laying the foundation necessary for advanced study in nursing and public/community health. Graduates with a good overall final score can proceed to pursue the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or related fields. Students learn the latest innovations in healthcare delivery and advances in nursing science.
Diploma in Midwifery
Goals of the Programme
The Diploma in Midwifery is a three year programme designed to provide a sound base in the science of mother and child care. It is designed to develop in students the concept of professional practice, innovation and enterprise. It is intended to provide the students with hands-on experience to prepare them for the healthcare industry. The programme also prepares students for careers in research found in healthcare industry, and for higher education to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery. Students learn the latest innovations in healthcare delivery and advances in nursing science.
