Zelle is a payment service that most banks in the US can use. It was made to make sending money to people faster and easier, even if they have bank accounts at different banks. Even though it’s a great way to pay, it has a big problem: not enough people use it.
Even though we like to act like Zelle is the future, we can’t ignore the fact that most US banks still don’t have Zelle. If the feature is so important to your banking, you might want to check if your bank has Zelle even before making an account.
I’ll answer the question, “Does IBC have Zelle?” in this article. You’ll also learn how to use Zelle with your bank even if IBC and Zelle don’t work together. So, without further ado, let’s get into the article.
HOW DOES ZELLE WORK?
Before answering the article’s main question, it’s important to know how Zelle works so you don’t get the wrong idea. Most people think that banks’ support for Zelle is either there or it isn’t. This couldn’t be further from the truth, as this section will show.
First of all, Zelle is a payment service that was made and is owned by some of the best banks in the US. It makes it easy and quick for people who use the service to pay each other, which is a feature that top payment apps like PayPal, Cash App, and Venmo also have.
Even if a bank wasn’t one of the original founding banks, it can still use Zelle. Customers can sign up for Zelle without any problems as long as the bank is an official partner of the payment service.
But not all banks are partners of Zelle or can become partners. There are some banks that don’t support the service, so you can’t sign up through them. Even though that’s not a good thing, it’s not enough to make me not go to that bank.
You can use Zelle even if your bank isn’t supported, but you’ll have to deal with a lot more limits than the average user. In the next section, you’ll find out if IBC Bank has Zelle and how you can get around the problem if it doesn’t seem to have the service.
DOES IBC HAVE ZELLE?
You already know that not all US banks can use the Zelle payment service because you read about it in the last section. IBC is a pretty well-known bank in the United States, so they should definitely be able to use Zelle, right?
Well, that’s not true. IBC is one of the (very few) banks that does not have Zelle payments set up by default right now. In short, if you have an account with IBC Bank, you can’t send money to other Zelle users from the app using money from your bank account.
Considering how many features you could use if you could connect to Zelle through IBC, this is a pretty rude awakening. But it’s not the end of the world, and you may be able to use Zelle just fine with a workaround for people who don’t have banks that support it.
Before you go to great lengths to think of a workaround, you should try to talk to your friends or business partners about the possibility of using other payment services. There are many services like Zelle that make it easy to send and receive money. You can even drive a few minutes to the nearest bank and almost certainly be able to use Zelle there.
If neither of those options work for you, don’t worry. In the next section, we’ll look at what you can do if your bank doesn’t support Zelle by default, like the IBC Bank.
HOW TO USE ZELLE WITH IBC (A WORKAROUND)
At this point, it’s obvious that IBC Bank doesn’t automatically support Zelle. If the lack of Zelle is a deal breaker for you, I’d suggest trying another bank. There’s no way to get anywhere near the ease of use of a bank that has Zelle built in.
If the service is just a nice extra for you, there are ways to use it without signing up and giving your bank account information. You can also add your IBC debit card after the fact to make the service and your bank account work even better together.
If you think that sounds like a good deal, here’s everything you need to do to use IBC with Zelle correctly.
1. Join Zelle if you don’t have a bank account.
You can’t sign up for Zelle from your IBC Bank app, which is different from other banks. But you’ll notice that the Zelle service has an app in the app stores of the most popular mobile operating systems. This lets you use the service even if your bank isn’t one of the ones that supports it.
Download the Zelle app from the Google Play Store or the App Store to get started. After you download the app, go to the signup page and create a Zelle account even if you don’t have a bank account.
If you look closely, you’ll see that the first step in making an account is to choose your bank and link it to the app. But Zelle doesn’t work with IBC, so you’ll need to type the bank’s name into the search box and choose the option to keep going even without a bank.
After saying that you don’t have a bank account, you can continue with the signup process. You’ll have to give Zelle a lot of information about yourself because you don’t have a bank account that Zelle can pull information from.
• Add your Zelle debit card as a payment source
After signing up for Zelle, you should be able to send and receive money, but only up to a very small amount. In addition to the limits, you can’t send money if you don’t have a way to put money into your account. Zelle lets you add a payment source so that you can.
When you’re done setting up your account, you should see a section called “Cards.” This is where you can add a debit card from your bank. Get your credit card from IBC Bank and go to the Zelle app. When you add the card to your account, you’ve made a Zelle account that can use your IBC Bank funds.
