Vice-President hands over 75 buses to Senior High Schools


Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana, has handed over more than 75 buses to Senior High Schools (SHSs) around the country as part of his government’s endeavor to promote secondary school education.

President Nana Akufo-right-hand Addo’s man also handed over the keys of five pickup trucks to head tutors of the beneficiaries Second cycle schools at a brief ceremony at Accra Senior High School on Thursday, May 26, 2022.

Lambussie Community Day SHS, St James Seminary, Begoro Presby SHS, Techimantia SHS, Odupong SHS, Asankragua SHS, Wa SHS, and Koforidua Senior High Technical School are among the Senior High Schools (SHSs) that would benefit.

Accra Academy SHS, Anum Boso SHS, Tepa SHS, Northern School of Business, Osino Presby SHS, Oti Boateng SHS, Tarkwa SHS, Asare Bediako SHS, Assin North SHTS, and Bosomtwe Girls STEM SHS are among the others.

This is the second time in the 2022 academic year that the Vice-President has donated buses and pickup trucks to several of the country’s Senior High Schools on behalf of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led government.

Mr Bawumia stated during a vehicle handover event in February that the automobiles are part of the government’s continued endeavor, through the Ghana School Trust Fund, to enhance access to education for every Ghanaian kid.

Dr. Mahamudu further stated that the cars will provide the required infrastructure and logistics to establish a suitable environment for teaching and learning in various secondary schools.

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education, commented on the distribution of the automobiles, saying it was part of the central government’s endeavor to strengthen quality education, which is based on a strong education system.

“The initiative’s goal is to improve access to quality education by building a strong education system that prepares a critical mass of students to be active participants in our country’s socioeconomic transformation,” he told the media.

As Education Minister, the Bosomtwe Member of Parliament expressed confidence that the brand new vehicles will facilitate the mobility of our instructors and students and strengthen school administration.
